Heather is a highly passionate and driven individual who strives to make a difference in the world. She studied psychology at LSU and University of Houston-Clear Lake. Through her own life journey in overcoming the depths of addiction, she has a complete and personal understanding of the disease. After 16 years of battling the disease, almost losing her life and her freedom, Heather was given a second chance and received the help she so desperately needed and hoped for. It was a long road in fighting for both her life and freedom, but she’s come out on the other side stronger and more dedicated to making a difference for those who are still sick and suffering. Heather has been a dedicated force in the recovery community for over 5 years and is extremely devoted to saving lives. She tells her story to encourage others and give them hope. “I am not what I have done, I am what I have overcome. Recovery is possible, life is beautiful, and it’s up to you to make a change.” She also enjoys practicing yoga and spending quality time with family and friends.
Hugh Michael Ogburn, MD
Executive Medical Director
Dr. Hugh graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1973 and specializes in Nephrology. Dr. Ogburn is Board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He is also affiliated with Angleton Danbury Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Hospital, Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and Methodist Hospital. He did his residency and fellowship at Baylor College including the affiliated hospitals: Ben Taub, Methodist Hospital and VA. Dr. Ogburn has a passion for helping others and literally bringing them back to life. He has witnessed the miracle of recovery and how it brought healing to his own family. Dr. Ogburn enjoys spending time with his family and loves watching movies.
Chief Operating Officer
New to the industry, Felix comes with over 12 years of executive operations, finance, and HR experience from multinational startups to multibillion dollar organizations. He brings his passion and enthusiasm for recovery and family education to Serenity. On his personal time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.
Clinical Director, LCSW-S, LCDC, CEAP, SAP qualified
Annette has over twenty-five years of experience, in the addiction, EAP, and behavioral health field. She has worked in a variety of settings with a variety of populations including, medical staff, emergency responders, adolescents, homeless, criminal justice, and DOT safety sensitive employees. Annette volunteers as the clinical director for the Galveston County Fire Fighter’s Association, Critical Incident Stress Management Team, and has been a member since 1999. She adores her 2 girls and spending as much time with them as possible as well as walking on the beach, yoga, the ID channel, the kitties at SLR, and Mexican food!
Director of Nursing
Debbie has been a nurse for 25+ years. She has a passion for people first and nursing second. Debbie loves seeing people become the person God intended them to be, and being able to facilitate that process in anyway she can. Her belief is that there is no other option except quality care.
Admissions Detox Director
Matthew started working in the treatment industry in 2007. He received his LCDC to work with substance and behavioral addictions along with co-occurring disorders. Matt has been an integral part in establishing a new detoxification and residential facilities in the Houston area. Matt enjoys living a life of recovery himself and continues to work on continuing education and self-improvement. In Matt’s personal life, he enjoys spending time with family, fishing and cooking.
Kristina attended the University of Houston, obtaining her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Masters in Social Work. She is also a LCDC and has been trained in EMDR for both trauma & addiction. Kristina has been a part of the recovery community for over a decade. Her personal struggles with addiction ignited in her a passion to help others. Kristina has a love for laughter and life and in her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and loves offshore fishing.
Corey has been passionately training, equipping, and activating others in their spiritual callings and giftings since 2007. He has served as a minister since his ordination in 2012. He is also a licensed massage therapist and a Bio Sound Healing Therapy technician. Corey’s personal journey of recovery, as well as his years involved in ministry, have produced within him a lifelong passion for spiritual healing and transformation in those struggling with addiction. Corey—whose name means “God is Peace”—is also a racquetball enthusiast, patient fisherman, health food fanatic, prophetic visionary, and aspiring dream interpreter.
Michelle has an incredible passion for helping others discover and thrive in their recovery journey. She is a certified yoga instructor as well as a certified personal trainer, and she loves to motivate and encourage individuals to have fun and find comradery through physical fitness activities. A deep seeded passion of Michelle’s is her love for going on nature walks, collecting things that ‘speak’ to her and turning it into art. “My personal recovery journey is very eclectic and beautiful. For me, it’s all about seeking a spiritual connection with my higher power whom I choose to call God; and it is by staying true to this connection that I have experienced self-acceptance, love and a burning determination to thrive in all I do.”
Recovery Coach Supervisor
Sally struggled with addiction for most of her life, she went from having absolutely nothing to having more than she could have ever dreamed since getting sober. She has been active in the recovery community for over 10 years. Becoming a Recovery Peer Specialist is a job she enjoys wholeheartedly, she gets to help others overcome their struggles daily. Life has taken on new meaning for her. Sally is married, rides her own Harley, and has relationships with ALL of her family members today!
Outreach Recovery Liaison
Morgan is a dedicated marketing professional and in recovery. She came to the treatment industry with a background in marketing, advertising and event planning as well as a desire to be a resource for those who still suffer from the disease of addiction. After getting sober herself, she realized that there is no limit to what you can accomplish and having the opportunity to help others find that same strength and clarity is something she is truly grateful for. Morgan likes to relax by watching The Real Housewives and enjoying time with her growing family.
Outreach Recovery Liaison
Deb comes to us with over thirty years of active recovery from substance abuse. Deb has, through her own business expertise, built lifelong partnerships in business and her personal life. Deb has a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, LA. Deb’s leisure time is spent helping young women overcome addiction, enjoying her children & grandchildren and she also has a passion for riding her motorcycle long distance.
